Convert units by just writing them

Type 3.5 km in miles or 2 cups in ml and the answer appears on the same line. Omacus knows hundreds of units, and it does math with them, so 60 km / 2 hours is a speed.

Omacus is a free notepad calculator for Linux, macOS and Windows. Each line is calculated as you type, and every line keeps its answer, so a recipe, a trip or a spec sheet stays readable.

Math with units

Units travel through the math. Divide a distance by a time and you get a speed; divide a distance by fuel economy and you get liters. Add in at the end to choose the unit of the answer.

Questions

How many units does Omacus know?

Hundreds, from everyday ones like miles, cups and pounds to scientific ones like joules, pascals and light years. The unit math comes from fend, an open-source calculator engine.

Are cups and gallons US or imperial?

US by default. Add imperial or UK for the British measures: 2 imperial pints in ml, 40 liters in imperial gallons. Gallons, quarts, pints and fluid ounces all have imperial versions.

Can I convert between units of different kinds?

Only when there's a real relationship, like distance divided by time. Converting cups of flour to grams needs a density, so Omacus doesn't guess.

Does it work offline?

Yes. Unit conversion is calculated entirely on your computer.
